How Much Beetroot Powder Per Day
How much beetroot powder per day comes down to the serve on the pack. For ours, that is one rounded teaspoon, about 5 g, mixed into a drink or food.
How much beetroot powder per day: the label serve
Our 250 g jar is labelled at 5 g per serve, 50 serves per jar, and the suggested use is to add one rounded teaspoon to juice, a smoothie or your favourite food. That is the amount we recommend.
Other brands may label a different serve, so always read the pack you have. Powders vary in how finely they are milled and how densely they pack, which changes how much a teaspoon holds.
How many teaspoons is 5 g?
One rounded teaspoon. A level teaspoon of beetroot powder holds a little less, so heap it slightly. If you want to be exact, a kitchen scale set to grams settles it in a few seconds, and once you have seen what 5 g looks like you will not need the scale again.
Can you have beetroot powder every day?
Yes. Beetroot powder is simply dried beetroot, and plenty of our customers have a serve every morning. As with any concentrated food, keep to the serve on the pack rather than doubling up.
If you take prescription medication, are pregnant, or have been told to watch foods high in oxalates, check with your doctor or dietitian before adding any concentrated vegetable powder to your routine.
Morning or night?
There is no right time on the label, so pick the one you will stick with. Mornings are easiest for most people: it disappears into a smoothie, juice or bowl of yoghurt. Some prefer it in an afternoon drink. Consistency matters more than the clock.
Pink wee and other things to expect
Beetroot in any form can turn urine or stools pink or red. It is called beeturia, it is common, and it comes from the same natural pigment that colours the powder. The powder will also tint anything it touches, including your blender jug and the odd white shirt.
How long does a jar last?
At one serve a day, a 250 g jar lasts 50 days. A 2 pack lasts 100 days, a 3 pack 150 days and a 4 pack 200 days.
| Pack | Price | Serves | Per serve |
